Built my first phone pole. Hopefully they'll get better as I make more.

Really nice.... I like the spikes so the climber doesn't 't have to wear them....

What did you use as insulators? I made some a few years ago for my nephew's layout but could never find anything that looked good.

As someone who climbed for a living, you kinda over did the steps. First step is at least 6 1/2 feet above grade then they alternate every 18". Thanks for the info on the insulators, I have been wanting to do this also. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the insulator info. When I made mine I looked for something to use with no luck. I looked at hobby lobby and they had a lot of beads but nothing that looked right. I'll look for those.
The telephone poles look great! Very realistic and much better then the ones you buy from Lionel or MTH. Reminds me of the telephone poles on the north side of Reading PA along the Reading tracks heading toward Leesport.
