Rich, you need to make the software block the photos from duplication on a thread.
I see reply’s with the same photos on a topic over and over again.
It looks ridiculous.
I ‘m losing interest quickly especially on the weekly photo fun thread.

I agree!!
I agree!!

Boy do I agree with this suggestion!!!!! It is incomprehensible to me why some people copy a whole entire post, to simply type only one or two sentences. For example, a guy post multiple photos, and then some idiot copies the entire post to just say, "Great pictures.".
I thus no longer even go to those various photo threads.
I glance at threads several times during my internet travels hoping to see new additions and ideas throughout the day.
You can reply to the post / photo of interest without adding the same photos over again folks.
I cannot prevent pictures from appearing multiple time if the post is requoted. We have to teach members to just REPLY to the thread and not use the REPLY WITH QUOTE button.
I also agree!! How do you reply without sending the pictures and only replying to one statement that was posted? I tried just highlighting but that doesn't work.

All you have to do, after selecting that "Reply with quotes now" icon, is then highlight everything you want to delete, then hit your delete key. Everything you highlighted will be deleted, leaving whatever you left un-highlighted. Very, very simple.
I also agree but we have been over this before and were still here.

Oh, I get it: You have to hit delete after each sentence you've deleted. I was never able to figure that out before. Thanks.
JUST USE THE POST REPLY BUTTON!! It is right below the last post in the thread. You will get a blank window in which to write your reply. Nothing is quoted and nothing has to be deleted.
There is absolutely no need to use the REPLY WITH QUOTE button if all you want to do is reply to a post!
Typically if I reply to a post with multiple pictures and I want to comment on one of them I delete the rest out of the reply with quote box. Otherwise I just use reply. The problem isn't with the software but the users. They just need to be a little more conscious of what they are doing. It wouldn't hurt anyone to maybe help them out and explain how it is correctly done If it's such a drag on your experience here.
I agree with SIRT. It's right up there with the "email sent" post.

I wonder how many people have any idea of the data storage space they waste with copying pictures (and whole posts). Yes, the disk itself is inexpensive. But when you consume tremendous amounts of it, and wish to back it up, the costs can add up.
Marty has it right.
Great post and Loooooooong overdue! Why is it necessary to repeat ANY image? Why not just reference it by description, as in: John Doe's second image of loco XYZ or whatever the pic in question is.
Maybe this is a call for a "Tips" section on "How to Use the Forum".....or if one already exists, maybe it needs to be more visible.
It is really tiresome looking at the same stuff again and again.

Sometimes referencing a photo is needed. I will continue to do so when I feel it is necessary.
Is is it me or are more people worried about what other people are doing wrong than posting about trains lately?

It's not you. And I agree with all, that repetitive photos are irritating.
However, nowhere can I find how to reply with quote (only) when photos are a part of the original post. As I see it, the only way is to retype the section of the original post to which I want to reply. (The delete button deletes only text).
Yes • I also agree.

Yes referencing one or two photos for a point AOK. But two or three individuals re-posting 6, 8, 10 or more photos is beyond a point.

Absolutely NOT true. If you "highlight" a photo and hit your "delete" key, it will indeed be deleted. I do such an action all the time, when I desire to refer to ONLY ONE photo in a long string of photos.
What Hot Water said.
Requires a little effort, that's all.

Some of us are not able to access the net with a broad band connection, and loading tons of the SAME image can be a painfully slow process. Apart from that, I couldn't care less what you are doing, be it right or wrong.
Simon
Don't look at this weeks photo fun, your heads will explode.
To add to what Hot Water posted regarding quotes and selective editing/deletions; if there is a quote and photo that you wish to specifically identify, you can also shrink or resize that quoted photo by clicking the photo in your quote section and then hold the left mouse button to capture the outer photo's frame and slide to proportionally reduce the photo to identify it for others but as a much, much smaller size.
I agree big time! It's especially annoying while viewing the forum on a smart phone!
Keystone,
Excellent information. Thank You!
