The Steel Mill Modelers Special Interest Group Annual Meet took place this past weekend in Kent, Ohio. I took over 325 photos of the layouts that were open for visiting. There are some truly fabulous modelers in this aspect of the hobby. Here is a low-res sampling of the smorgasbord. Enjoy!

By the way, these are all HO scale layouts. Our steel mill modeling friends in HO have the wonderful Walthers steel mill building kits to start from. (Yes, I'm jealous). Regardless, these layouts were beautifully executed.

Definitely some very impressive modeling there! Scale has never been all that important to me. What is important is the effort put into a scene or layout regardless of the scale. There are always useful lessons to be learned from such fine modeling.

That is exactly why I belong to this group and to the NMRA. Lots of inspiration, examples of excellent modeling, and people willing to exchange ideas and offer help.
