Next month I will be at Penn Station.  I assume its still okay to walk down to the platforms and snap a few shots and watch some action (no tripod of course).  Or do I need to ask the Amtrak Station Office for a permission card or something?

Second, I have seen a great photo recently of the platforms.  Its in an area where the ceiling is high and the steps leading up from the platforms are exposed, possibly part of the original configuration.  Does anyone know where this photo angle is?  You can see across most of the platforms, and over the trains.  Anytime I have been in Penn Station, it was in the area where the ceiling is low over the platforms and you can barely see one track over.

Finally, is the old Tower "A" visible to the public from the platforms?

by all means contact the Penn Station office of the NYPD in advance, or search for station restrictions online.

if you are seen photographing in the platform/track areas by any of the Amtrak, NYPD, NJT police, you will be stopped and questioned. no doubt about it.

there are a couple original open stairways on the LIRR (north) side

the existing open sky between the Farley post office and 11th Ave is now covered over by new construction. allowing no daylight to view A Tower.
