The Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad (reporting mark GM&O) was a Class I railroad in the central United States whose primary routes extended from Mobile, Alabama, and New Orleans, Louisiana, to St. Louis, Kansas City, and Chicago.

 

GP35 Diesel
Produced in the mid-1960s, EMD’s GP35 diesel locomotive proved a popular choice for railroads looking to upgrade from their first-generation engines. The GP35 produced 2500 horsepower, making it versatile and relatively efficient.

I purchased this engine at a blow out price I could not resist but now that I have it, it has become one of my favorite.  I thought they looked horrible in the Lionel catalog but in person,I really like the paint scheme and it has some of the better Lionel diesel sounds going.

 

Great engine and I appreciate the picture of the real loco in this paint scheme.
