Nice, but she is missing a few very key parts from her running gear. Wonder what happened to them?
You know Hot Water, when I was snapping these pics I see this too. It used to be at a different place and was moved to the Trolley Museum a few years back. I wondered if they removed them to move the her. I guess the next time I get there I will go inside the Trolley barn and se if anybody knows. I know when it was given to the city; it was freshly shopped. 1952 I believe, it was shopped in the town I was raised, about 2 blocks from my house, years before I came along though. The way I understand, it was assigned to the South bound from Monett, Mo to Fort Smith, Ar. and back. So the #4003 Mikado and the #1522 Mountain witch also ran local service are my favorites steam. They have checked #4003 out and say it wouldn't take much to put her in steam again, but they have no where to run it on and no desire to restore her to running condition, sad ,sad, sad.
There she is
Good looking locomotive. Frisco always had well proportioned mikados. In 1967 I saw #1355 on display, hwy. 98, in Pensacola Florida and liked them ever since.

You can thank the USRA for the 4003. She's a USRA light Mike.
The 1355 was rebuilt to a 2-8-2 from a 2-8-0 by the Frisco.

Thought I sniffed a USRA light mike. The delta trailing truck was a replacement for the fabricated trailing truck supplied by the builder, I presume.
That's the way to display a locomotive. Looks GREAT !
