If I remember correctly, the Williams Golden Memories F3s look pretty close to their PW Lionel originals. The 2363 has a fairly light chocolate brown that is not very prototypical but has a loyal following among Lionel enthusiasts. Same with several of the other PW F3s.

There is an interesting story (hope I'm remembering this correctly) about the Lionel 2368 B&O that was posted here several years ago how a magazine photographer altered a color photo and gave it to J.L.Cowan or someone in development and they came up with the medium blue and white for their B&O F3. Again, not prototypical but loved none-the-less by many of us.

I have a number of books on the Illinois Central showing their EMD E units in full color. My concern is that the Williams colors (mainly brown) is lighter than the Lionel or K-line brown and would look out-of-place heading a consist of L or K passenger cars.

The Lionel and K-line passenger cars (brown) match each other perfectly.

Thanks "all" for the photo's and information.

The darker paint version, with the stripe over the nose, matches their (Lionel)streamlined passenger cars.

In later years, the IC did have a paint scheme where the stripe did not go over the nose, but that was when the IC was using the circular, black, IC logo...not the green diamond.

Here's a shot of one of those. The City of New Orleans headed up by an E unit, on 4/19/1969, in southern Ill. heading toward Memphis and on to the Big Easy.
