Looking for any leads to find a 9 tooth plastic pinion gears for a Lionel Coal Tipple 6-32910. I know you can’t get parts for this but is there a pinion gear that would fit. The size of the broken one is 7mm long 6.8mm outside diameter, fitting on a 2mm shaft. THanks for your time.

Yes that is what mine looks like. Split in two. 9 teeth.
I'm not sure how much of a difference 2 teeth will make (less torque), but look into Team Associated RC18T, it's an 1/18th scale RC car pinion gear, they're metal.
Can you glue it back together than make a 3D printed version of it
