what is the track spacing for running parallel tracks with the plasticville coaling tower. I thought the tower had a dump chute through the middle like the Lionel one but it turns out it's only the side chute.
I was planning on building a small "dump pit" in the middle under it and have the track through the middle be my service track but I guess that just won't work.
Because of the geometry of the layout I believe I can put another left hand switch with a half curve below it on the same siding then adjust the switch spacing to get correct parallel rail spacing. From pics I've found of the tower on layouts the spacing looks to be at least 5" so the chute is centered under the service track.
The right hand most siding was going to be a gravel pit hence the elevated rail but it will now be the service track. The barrel loader is going to the left of the flat car with the tractors so no worries about that. I think I can run a siding of similar configuration below the service track switch for the coaling tower to sit over and slide the whole switch and track to change the parallel spacing. I think spacing is wide enough so the switches won't interfere with each other in this configuration.
Thoughts?
