My wife and I are at the Greenwhich CT hospital at her dad's bedside. He has diognosed with inoperable stomach cancer.  I have only known Charlie for 8 years. Charlie brought us back into model trains. But importantly he became the father I never had. I learned all I know about O scale trains from him.  Through his sense of humor, to his busting my chops about the Detroit Tigers , he loves his Yankees! We have had some wonderful times together.  When we walked into his hospital room yesterday even before he said hello. He said " Ralph don't touch my R142 subway set I'm still using it" and smiled at us. I gave the set to him a few years  ago and knows how much I like the R142. Please say a prayer for Charlie and our family .

Ralph & Laura,

We will keep him in our prayers no doubt about it.  I hope I make him smile with this, tell him for me that the 60's Yanks were a great ball team, unfortunately they did not have Billy Maz, the greatest 2nd baseman in the history of Baseball, he was and still is a Pittsburgh Pirate.

Give him our best we are definitely praying for him.

Ginny and I are certainly going to keep all of you in our prayers.

Where there are prayers, there is hope.

Should your Father-In-Law be able to leave the hospital and travel, Ginny and I would love to have all of you visit the Munoz Lines here in Carmel, NY, and have lunch with us. The layout is dedicated to my Father-In-Law. We also have some Yankee memorabilia he would like quite a lot. Our door is open to you.

Ralph, stay strong and be the rock your wife needs.  I lost my father-in-law just last November to complications due to Alzheimer's.  In his last years he forgot who I was but he enjoyed running trains with his grandsons and I.  He renewed my interest in O-scale when he got the boys a Lionel hudson starter set 13 years ago.  Its turned out to be a great hobby and a common interest for my sons and I.  Its also given me focus and help me cope with his loss.  I glad you thought enough of our community to share your personal story with us.

I just want to take the time to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers.  I wish we could respond to all the emails and posts.  Just know your comments are very much appreciated ! We meet with the doctors this afternon and they advised us not to move Charlie to Hospice.  He is resting very comfortably.

Thank you all again,

Ralph and Laura and entire Mazzullo family.
