Could someone please enlighten me as to why the "Pocket Watch" thread went on lockdown?

How old was it? When was the last post? I believe of 6 mos of inactivity and the thread is locked.
Oh well. I was going to post a picture of my father's "Gentleman's" watch with chain, fairystone charm and original box on there. Too late now.

Cool watch! I think they should unlock the thread and let you post it there. I understand not keeping every thread forever, but the more educational ones should be given some leeway, IMHO.
Has anyone emailed Rich and asked? There was another thread he recently unlocked when asked to. Actually I think he suggested using the "Alert Icon" and let him know.
I just pushed the Alert to see if the thread can be unlocked.
Notify the moderators of the thread and I think they will unlock it. There was something about the auto locking of threads after a period of time like MartyE said. On the one in question, they said to notify them which thread it was and they would unlock it.
Thanks, Marty.
Well in the mean time...that is a beautiful watch Jim.

Holly Cow!!!!!! I have a few Hamilton 992, 992B, and even a 950B (23 jewels) railroad grade pocket watches, but NONE of them look THAT fantastic. I assume that was a "Gentleman's Presentation Watch"?
I was only told by someone that it was referred to as a Gentleman's watch rather than a RR watch. Dad's father took him to the Hamilton factory and purchased a watch for each of them. My grandfather bought a 992B which I also have, but, it is nothing elegant like this one. Dad's initials are also engraved on the back. I particularly like the clip and how it attaches to a vest.
It was automatically locked when it went 6 months with no replies. I have unlocked it.
Thank you Rich. That was a thread worth keeping around.
