A friend of mine has the original Polar Express set from about seven years ago.
What additional issues by Lionel for this set would make a nice Christmas gift?

Hey Charlie,
Here's a link to all of our polar express items that you can always use to add on!

Hi Charlie,
Here are the Lionel links for Polar Express trains and accessories. Matt

If you can buy the tender separately from the 6-18754, that would be rteally nice. It's die cast with railsounds. I have not seen them often. The 6-36847 Trainsounds tender is an upgrade.
The 6-36875 Conductor announcement car is nice too.

How do you activate the sounds of the Polar Express Coach with Conductor ?
Is there a devise included that is wired to the track?
Charlie:
It is activated by the whistle/horn feature on the transformer. Very simple to activate.
The conductor might be wired backwards, ours won't work when you press the bell button but both the whistle and conductor operate if the whistle button is pushed. Have't gotten around to switching the wires inside the car but it should be an easy fix.
Jerry
Thank you both for the reply.
The Express Coach with Conductor is probably a good gift choice for his youngsters.
I have the Polar Express 6-31960. will the tender( 6-36847) work with this set without any additional parts? Other words, take it out of the box and hook up?
Brent
Charlie,
To operate the conductor car you press the bell button on the transformer. The conductor announces in Tom Hank's voice from the movie "All Aboard, this is the Polar Express".
Brent,
Yes. The Trainsounds tender operates on it's own, it has chuff, a whistle that sounds like the 1225's real whistle, a volume control and an off switch. The coupler connects the same as the included tender.
Thanks, I am going to get one.
Brent
What track does Lionel use for the Polar Express set?

Hi Jerry,
Mine was wired so that it operated with the whistle button instead of the bell too. The wiring fix is very simple, just reverse the connections on the two wires leading to the sound circuit board, and then it will operate as expected.
1 10" straight & 1 terminal track (10")
8 036 curves-no 031's.
pennsyk4-it's all FasTrack, if you are thinking of track as a gift, 4-5" straights, 2-10" straights and 2-30" straights added to the 40" x 60" included make a loop on a 4' x 8'.
Thank you for the fast track answers.
I will be ordering some.
