I have the PE lionchief 2.0 plus loco and tender and was wondering how much smoke fluid should i put in it, it has been in storage for over a year and last year i never put any fluid in it to smoke.  Now when i do I am afraid i will put too much in it.  per the instructions when i put 20 drops in it it wont smoke, yes the smoke switch is on.  I can get it to smoke if i just continue to drop fluid into it but it doesnt last long and i dont wont to over saturate the unit.  any tips would be appreciated.

You need to get the wicking material saturated.

After that long of storage it is for sure bone dry. After mine sit that long I add 30 to 40 drops but only 10 drops at a time. Every time you add 10 drops wait 5 or 10 minutes for it to soak in.

Used, dried out wicks take longer to soak up the fluid then new ones so you dont want it to puddle up and flow over before it has a chance to soak in. If it's not smoking at all after 30 drops there may be another issue.

The 20 drop recommendation is simply not enough for a dry fan driven smoke unit. I use the same practice with my MTH engines as well as Lionel (with fan driven smoke units). The MTH manuals actually instruct you to use 40 drops for a new wick or a unit that has been taken out of storage.

I don't want you to over fill your unit so keep in mind the amount of fluid you have already added if you take my advice.
