Hello all...Pomona Valley introduced EMC "passenger diesels" and sold full train sets ..of both smooth, and flutted cars ..1939-41. The line was carriered in the Lobaugh 1941 catalog. Impressive ...and expensive set for the time ...hence not too many out there today.

The post War Adams & Son engines are much more common to find .

Set still needs lots of love ...like decals ..engine was nickel plated ..cars are made of Monel metal ..

Cheers Carey 0128210258_HDR~20128210259~20128210259_HDR~2012821030001282103020116211058~2

Hello thank you for your kind words ...,. no idea how they formed the Monel ...the use of it was an option... the monel does not seem the buff to a luster ... unless you can suggest a magic polish compound ...I tried with never dull...as I did on the engine ..

cheers Carey

My understanding with Monel is that it has to be electropolished.  I don't think it's a cheap option though. Nickel plating may be a less expensive course. The problem with Monel is the high copper which becomes prominent like other high copper alloys when polished.

My experience with it though has been more industrial for use in highly corrosive chemical processing.

I would never paint them though. If they can't be restored by some means they're still beautiful as is.
