An organization I am affiliated with owns a Budd RDC-1 car that is in semi-operational condition and currently accessible by rail (Fingerlakes Railway).  Our organization has been approached by an individual that would like to sell it on our behalf.  My question is, where do buyers and sellers go to transact such business?   Besides what little I see on the internet, what kind of a resale market exists for pieces of equipment such as this one?  Would anyone on this board that have professional experience in the buying and selling of railcars like this have any suggestions for our group to consider before making any major financial decisions on it's future?

This is the actual RDC car in question:

RDC-1: PRSL #M403

Budd Corporation; Red Lion, PA
History
Built Sept. 27, 1950, as Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines (PRSL) #M403 → NJ DOT #M403 (1969) → New Jersey Transit #5181 (1981)

I currently serve as First Vice President of the organization that owns this car.  If you prefer to e-mail me privately off-list, my e-mail address is:  sales@jrjunction.com

Thank you for any guidance you may be able to provide us.

Try to contact Tony Macrie, owner of the Cape May Seashore Lines. He has in his possession most of the surviving PRSL RDC's and probably would be very interested in yours, especially if it runs. Each Christmas season he operates the M407 and the M410 in Santa Special trains from Tuckahoe, NJ to Richland, NJ.

I do not have the web address handy, but just search Cape May Seashore Lines and you will find it.

Good Luck.

Not that it matters, the location of the BUDD corporation was on Red Lion Road in Northeast, Philadelphia.  As it's written in your post, one could believe that Red Lion is a town in Pennsylvania.
