Wish I could be there.
Hi Kelly,
Thanks for the heads up and keeps us posted please! Thanks again!
I'll be there!
Thanks Kelly.
A co-worker was off today and was able to go get some video and pictures. Looks like a great opportunity. Bummed I missed it.
Dan was able to get this video. He's an HO guy and doesn't hang out on this forum and he gave me permission to post.
FROM THE WEBMASTER:
I embedded the video for you.
In the future, try to use the video embed feature instead of just pasting the URL here.
Another steam freight is happening tomorrow morning at 8 am. No doubleheader, but 90 will be taking a handful of cars back from Leaman Place. For those who want to ride, departure is 8 am.
Who is the customer receiving those cars?
Will this be on-going freight revenue for the Strasburg?

As I recall, they have multiple customers.

Yes, in fact it has been "on-going" for the Strasburg Rail Road for a few years. In fact, some time ago (more than two years?), the Strasburg had to have a complete new bridge designed and built, in ordered to handle the weight of the very heavy freight cars currently in use on todays main line railroads.
Thanks, Jack.
You can never have too many revenue sources!

If you read their website, they claim that their freight services are quite affordable. I am itching to ride one of these. Normally it is just the caboose. Sometimes one passenger car. Yesterday was a rare opportunity that I had to miss.
Both freights were great to see particularly the doubleheader. Here are some pictures from both days:
Enginemen Ryan Musser and Anthony DeBellis look on as #90 completes her blowdown.
Both locomotives getting warmed up...
The morning sun illuminates the scene as the doubleheader arrives to pick up the 7 cars at Leaman Place. Ross Gochenaur and Erich Armpriester in the N&W class M. Dave Domitrovich and Ryan Musser in the Great Western decapod.
Ross Gochenaur riding the tender to pick up the freight cars.
"Pillars of Smoke In The Sky" as the doubleheader begins the show back to East Strasburg.
Two days later on the 30th, SRC #90 picks up another 3 hoppers.
Extremely windy but well worth seeing SRC #90 make the climb up Cherry Hill.
A big thanks to the SRC for allowing us railfans to enjoy these. I'm sure it is a good time for the crews as well. A video will be coming! Stay tuned.
