I have an F3 here that is intermittantly blowing the horn by itself briefly as it travels around the loop. I can see the relay closing for a split second each time. The point gap is correct, and actually a bit wide so I don't think bumping is occurring. Can it be electrical "noise" from the sparking rollers? I have seen this occasionally in the past with other diesels but not this much. I cleaned the track well but that had no effect. Are the rollers causing this?

With all electrical contact to the rails it is best to keep the sparks to a minimum. Have you cleaned the wheels on the trucks as well as the track?

I have some older Williams tenders that sound off because of dirty track or wheels, don't know for sure why but dirt plays a major factor in the whistle sounding off when not wanted. The transformer I was using the one time did not have a whistle button and yet the tender sounded off because of dirty conditions.
