I am a novice so forgive my ignorance. Can I use modern liquid smoke in my pw loco or do I need to find pellets?

I've used about every kind of fluid in postwar pellet units. Here is my 736(726RR):
I've been using both in my old Berk and the fluid seems to last longer and smokes like ADCX Rob's video. The pellets smell is less offensive and makes it seem like 50 years ago. I was lucky to find three bottles in my dad's stuff.
Many people report that smoke fluid works fine in postwar pellet type smoke units.
Smoke pellets are being made again and are fairly easy to obtain.
I prefer the pellets.
I've used the smoke fluid in pellet smokers, it works fine. Resist the urge to put wick in on top of the smoke element, that doesn't work. I had to clean out the burned pieces in one that I bought off eBay.

The short answer is Yes. I've used smoke fluid in all my postwar steamers for years. There are many to choose from, so I'm not going to recommend a specific brand. I recommend you try them yourself and see which one you like best.
