I’ve requested help with the Fastrack 6-12062 grade crossing in the Lionel General Topics category and received no comments. Should I place my question elsewhere?

Theres lots of knowledgable folks on this forum. (IMO ,the most knowledgeable in the hobby) but ,it could be that no one has the answer to your issue with the gates.
If those are new, maybe a warranty exchange or return is an option.
I suppose you could move it to the "Lionel Products" and see if that helps.
Those gates have been known to be problematic. I had a set a number of years ago that failed in the first year. I exchanged them for a new set that lasted another 2 or 3 years and failed again. In my case the gears driving the gates stripped. I went with the crossing with no gates. Less moving parts, less things to go wrong.
Thanks. It’s 6 or so years old. Used only at Xmas until this year when I planned to add to basement layout
I have had posts deleted because I did not pick the right category and have gone elsewhere to get the answers I was looking for. Why cannot this board be easy to use?
I’ve gotten a tremendous amount of help here over the years. On this one when I changed my approach, I got quick and somewhat discouraging responses
Rick, since I lost both lights and crossing arms at the same time I wonder it might be something other than gears. Can I see the gears by taking it apart (or will all the parts & pieces fall Out.

The OGR Forums are VERY "easy to use", if one reads, and comprehends the actual title of each forum. For example, requesting technical assistance for an MTH RailKing locomotive that will not move, on the 3RS Forum, will surely get deleted.
Thank you.
I’ve used the forum a lot and been blessed with lots of help. Only because I wasn’t receiving respnses on this particular question did I wonder if I’d made a mistake.
when I wondered aloud in a new post (this one) I received responses in both this string and the original. Unfortunately there seem to be no easy answers or quick fixes to my problem.

Did you remove the gates on the 6-12062 or purchase new crossings w/o gates
Are Lionel postwar gates or MTH likely to be more durable?
I have noticed this too, as I posted two questions about wiring harnesses for MTH and no replies. I wonder if I was deleted?
The "3-Rail Scale Forum" seems to be the forum that causes some grief of late. It's not a very intuitive name for what, if one digs deep enough, appears to be the basic intent of what should be posted in it.
I think if the name were changed to the "3-Rail Scale Coupler and Rivet-Counting Forum", then the name becomes at least a little clearer as to what is expected of it.
But something else perplexes me even more, and here's just ONE of possibly a handful of potential category breakdowns............. For instance, guys that are working on using battery power in order to provide better running characteristics AND eliminate the non-scale third rail, what category should they be posting in? I don't see a single category that fits this extension of the O-gauge hobby, yet no one gets called out for any posts made on this subject. If the third rail is being eliminated, it really shouldn't be either of the two 3-rail forums. If they're still using hi-rail wheels and lobster-claw couplers, then it probably shouldn't be put in the "2-Rail Scale Forum", should it? What category should it go in? Or what about folks that build Lego trains? Or a host of other off-shoot items??? Not that there's anything wrong with these endeavors, mind you.
I dunno. The current situation seems kind of odd to me. Best advice for now - if in doubt, forgo posting in the "3-Rail Scale Forum" whatsoever. That should keep you out of hot water and getting a spanking.
Reading your original post, the electrical seems like a good bet.
Is it a product that can be disassembled? Can you take pictures of the guts? It might be a broken wire, or disconnected harness. Not being familiar with the exact product, but knowing how to trouble-shoot electrical stuff, we might be able to see a problem if it's an obvious one.
