I have a 671RR that I'm trying to replace the smoke assembly.
Since there was no magnet in the 671RR frame when it was made,
what holds the smoke lever in place? See my photo.
I was wondering if someone with a 671RR could take the boiler
off and send me a picture of how the smoke lever is
mounted(held in place). If there is something in there where the magnet
would be mounted, what is it called? May be I can find it on
a parts list somewhere.
Thanks in advance
Joe

Nice try but that retainer won't work because the 671 and 671RR frames are different. The

671RR is like the 681 frame but without the magnet. I have not been able to find any

reverence to how the lever is retained in any manuals or diagrams. That's why I need

to see an example of a real 671RR. In the photo attached the 671 is on the top and

the 671RR is on the bottom. You can see the difference  in the smoke lever area.

That lever was part of the conversion kit (671S-1) when upgrading the old bulb heater in
the early 671s. I found that image in the Greenberg manual too. So it only works in the
early 671s(1946) not in the 671RR. Thank you for trying.
I did find a reference for a smoke lever (681-22) that is associated with the 1952 version
of the 671 (671RR) But that still doesn't explain how it is held in place so that the cam
can rock the lever up and down.
In the video you link to(681), you can see the magnet assembly over the smoke lever
holding it in place, but  the 671RR has no magnet assembly. That's my dilemma.
Again, thank you Frank for trying!
