Hi all,

Just curious...  Do the ERR sound modules operate as stand alone?  IOW, can I use them to provide just sound for postwar trains either in engine tenders or box cars?  I have a customer that would like sound similar to what the sound tender for the Polar Express provides.

Thanks...

Yes, Lionel has several conventional only sound sets that are stand alone.  Think the sound sets in the PWC series as example.  Let alone all those steam starter sets from the 2000 period with RS and even battery backup.  That is why those tenders became a premium even though it was a basic 4-4-2 starter set.

In my opinion, finding the ones with battery backup are a much better choice for conventional ops, otherwise every direction change results in startup sounds all over again.  Ruins the enjoyment of having sound.  G

How would I search the site for them?

Let's say he want to add sound to a PW Alco.  Search Lionel's website for the PWC alcos, like the navy or usmc.

Similar for steam.  At some point you need to know what your looking at on the web.

ERR products are also a good stand alone, and could expand for TMCC use in future.  They will work in conventional, but may be more pricy.  G
