I received a 681 Lionel train set in 1951 that I still have, passenger and freight cars. I'm 81 now and decided they need a layout before it's to late . (duh ) ! It will be called Eastern Shore Depot . I'll keep you all posted.

I look forward to seeing your 681 in action. And it'll need a lot more vintage rolling stock to keep it company!

Thank you for your reply. Looking forward to more postwar rolling stock and accessories . I will post some pics when I figure out how to do it.

welcome to the forum! Can't beat an old Lionel Turbine.
My father's favorite PW engines was the turbine. When we were getting back "heavy" into trains in the mid '70s, we acquired quite a lot in a short time. He would look at every turbine he could and had one of each at the least, two of others. He passed in 1978 and I retain a great engine of each, the 2020, 671, 681 and 682. They are a beast for their time and each smokes great, so long as the smoke pill residue holds out before adding another pellet. And, yes, have correct tenders for each, just not when some pics were taken. A friend of mine, back in Houston, had over twenty versions with his dad on their layout. But, in the early '80s, their farm was hit by a twister and the barn, with layout, was destroyed. He would tell me how years later neighbors would come across turbine engines in the field while plowing. Jesse TCA

Thanks, Eastern.
My layout is based on one of Lionel's Dealer Displays that they built for dealers to use as a sales tool. These are great for the classic Postwar look and feature lots of operating accessories.
Good luck as you move forward.
Thank you Lipenlarry , Love your posters, makes me drool.

You can't go wrong with a Lionel display layout in my humble opinion. Love the accessories. I did find a solution for the stubborn cattle car , tape the door shut !
