postwar Lionel common ground wiring | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

hi guys,

In planning my new layout of approximately 30 by 15 feet I plan to use 12 gauge wire for common ground. I assume the common ground wire should be bareand not coated, just bare wire. is this the best way to go or should I use a black coated 12 gauge wire?

No reason to use bare wire, you can if you like. Personally, I use insulated wire all around.

It don't really matter as long as a hot does not touch it. I made a 60 amp common return out of Romex house wire and ground bar extensions for service panels.
