Recently bought another favorite of mine; a Lionel 2025 Loco from 1947.  It just needed a clean and lube and new brushes tune up, it was in very good shape.

I have a 4x8 layout of O27 gauge track and all O27 curves.  Have about 45 feet of total track.

This 2025 is just a strong puller even without magna-traction.  It surprised me.  Just recently bought enough cars to test it.  All postwar Lionel cars.  It's pulling 15 cars in the consist.

What a beast.  Its in better shape than I am.

their are quite a few out there.  eBay of course and trainz is where I usually look. Just have to be patient for the deals.

thanks again i'll be on the lookout

oh do you have a hudson?

i would love to have a 773 tho that siderod action is killer and the best part its reliable and built like a tank

The early Lionel post-war 027 2-6-2 2025 and its O Gauge brother 2-6-2 675 possessed the best motors Lionel ever manufactured.    The same motors were used in the pre-war 224Es, 225Es, and 226Es.  Smooth and silent running they are great pullers as the original poster stated.    Also, the great looking nickel rimmed Baldwin Disc Drivers give them a real spiffy appearance.
