I have  recently taken up the model train hobby. I have a Lionel fastrack layout and lion chief engines. Power for the tracks is the provided plug in to a power track as provided with the original lion chief set. Lionel accessories are powered by the provided plug in track. Other accessories are from Menards and are powered by a simple plug in transformer.

My question is of there is a simple way to provide power to an MTH building that has a place on the bottom to attach two wires one labeled AC and one labeled AC ground (picture attached). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

If you're tied to the Plug and Play you can pick up a Lionel Plug and Play pigtail and wire that to your accessory. The Lionel part number is 82038. If you are not committed to powering your accessory via track power you can wire multiple buildings into a buss cable which you can then hook to a transformer terminal other than track power.

Use can use the cable Neil suggested.  Since the building is only light bulbs, it will work with AC or DC and polarity doesn’t matter.  If you have, or plan to have, multiple buildings, you will need a separate transformer.  Incandescent bulbs draw a surprisingly large amount of power and, connected to your track, will degrade the performance of your train.  Enough of them will overload your transformer.  As you browse around the OGR forums you will see a number of articles about converting passenger cars and buildings to LED’s because the power requirement is a fraction of that required for an incandescent bulb.
