Have a Legacy Base 1L 6-37156. It had suddenly shut down, and the reason is that the power supply plugged into the 120V wall socket went dead. Does anyone have a suggested replacement for this part? It drops the power to 9v at 500mA into the Base 1L

Use the official power supply, it's an AC supply and it also has one side of the secondary connected to the ground prong of the outlet. A normal wall-wart won't work.
Lionel parts says unavailable but I would call them.
I repaired the Legacy wall wart of mine which had a blown fuse in it. The fuse blew because the Base went bad inside. I would call Lionel on this for a repair.
