Picked up batch of prewar Flyer today.

I have most catalogs from 29 on, but not earlier. Picked up three boxed “sets” but not sure if the contents are correct etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

No readable number on this one. No track or transformer. What number is it, what year etc assuming the contents are correct.

Looks like 1220 or 1226. Is it correct and what years.

Looks like 1210 or 1219. No loco, but has a tender. If the pieces here are correct, what loco goes with it.

The catalog illustration for 1923 indicates the first set is #1221 and the contents match what you have pictured

The second set is 1220  - it matches the set number and illustration in the 1925 catalog - three passenger cars and a #1218 locomotive.

I'll have to do some more rummaging for the last set.  What bothers me is the box top illustration - I think it is too early for a train set with a steam locomotive so I'm not sure the box and contents match.

It looks like Flyer changed set numbers from 1200's to 1300's in 1928.  A check of the frames on the passenger cars in the set with the box 1219 indicates those frames were made between 1932 and 1934.  The closest match I have to the set contents is the Dictator set from 1932 - obviously my set has a baggage car instead of another coach.  My guess would be the illustrated engine would be a match for your consist.

The only place I can find a #1219 set which would also have a box top cover that matches what you have is this set from 1922-24

Robert, i agree the Revere/ Lexington cars were part of the Dictator set, but i see a few contradictions other than just the consist.  the Champion sets were advertised as packed with a 20 watt 2-speed transformer, not the 50 watt No. 1249 (Joy Transformer... lol).  then there is the 3181 (maybe) tender.  i'll go out on a limb and purpose that this is an uncataloged set with the missing locomotive being a Type III 3195 which is often paired up with that tender.

nice stuff, by the way... love the lightning bolt cars!
cheers...gary

Robert, this set makes sense. It also came to me with the rheostat and mail bag set.

Another item that came in this box is the wire piece. Any idea what it is? Any chance it is somehow used with the mail back pick up?
