I know this usually start to come up around now. Anyone care to predict what Lionel may market in their catalog this year?

Maybe the NW-2 switchers canceled last year will re-appear....

I'm hoping for a PS-4 NYC piggyback with orange-logoed NYC silver trailers...

Also an NYC O Scale Cylindrical Hopper...

But seriously, this is what I would love to see:

1. Reading and Northern #425 with maroon passenger cars

2. Strasburg #90 with passenger cars

3. Chestnut Ridge Railway Mack Railbus #51

4. An American Flyer 715 Automatic Unloading Car, but for O gauge.

I will be shocked if I see any of these though, so my money is safe

Still waiting on that N&W Big Steam Legacy. Class A,Y,Z Plenty of room in the A for some goodies. Wont happen because of the J, although they belong together.

Predictions-

Legacy/Vision--   Cab Forward for sure -P7 Presidential Engine- Big Pennsy Steam maybe the swoosh-Some kind of Erie Diesel power- trackside vision operating building- Legacy sound cars-Introduction of products for where legacy is going.

Given the outcry when the whistle-steam effect was pulled from the headliner locomotives in the last catalog, let's hope we haven't seen the last of this feature.  But I wouldn't hold my breath, considering the manufacturing/supplier situation in China these days.

For the Standard O line, I wouldn't mind a Pennsy L-1 Mikado, New York Central L3A Mohawk with elephant ears, AC4400CW's, #587 of the Nickel Plate Road, or the GS-4 American Freedom Train.

For the intermediate Classic Line, some reasonably priced Legacy updates on the Dash 8-40B/C Lionel did in the 90's would be nice, like what they did with the GP-9's and SD60M's in 2010.

Maybe for the Conventional Classics/Postwar Celebration, the 1430WS or 2140WS with either the 2025 K-5 steamer or 671 Turbine and green 2400 passenger cars would be cool.

And for the beginner line, some more remote controlled Thomas characters - those would surely be popular.

I also hope they do not pull the whistle steam effect. I now have 5 engines with whistle steam. Best thing since sliced bread. They have made some improvements on whistle steam since the earlier ones, such as the filler covers in the later versions.

I also like the swinging bell on the vision line Hudson and hope to see some more of that. As I have mentioned in an earlier post it seems these features started to disappear in the last catalog, even in some of the more expensive Engines.

Would love to see the following by Lionel or someone:

1)  scale 86' auto parts box car in four and eight door versions

2)  scale auto racks in two versions to compliments Lionel current model.  open sided and corrugated sides with no top

3)  NS Veterans day engine

4)  Southern 40' or 50' box  car with roof hatches used in Kaolin service.  Have an Atlas car made up but need to be painted.

5)  Welch Grain Co covered hopper

6)  everything to operate the way it should when we get it.  Quality control to highest standards and doa's/returns in low single digits.
