I would love to see a LIRR E-6 Atlantic. They have made it in so many roadnames already, why not?
I wouldn't mind a Legacy equipped Dreyfuss either.

They will have to finish the Norfolk Southern Heritage Series, pushing off the production of Scale NW-2 switchers for another year.

Possibly the reason I only owned mine for a short while. I too bought it on the cheap with the seller mentioning only one cab sunshade had come off. I figured that's an easy replacement Lionel part.
Well, turns out there were multiple broken parts on it, and the replacement parts themselves from Lionel were broken. The die-cast on this model just seems so soft and brittle. Took me quite a bit of extra dough to restore it with unbroken new parts and I eventually put it back on the market (having to take a hit of course). Unless I catch another one on the cheap with NO broken parts, I've had enough of that model for now.....
I would like to see - CC 671 turbine + pass. set, way over due. Legacy SP AC-4 cab-forward, Legacy yellow belly hudson, Legacy scale NW-2 and any Vision steamers or diesels
Maybe Lionel could do another survey on what we want. I know a number of years ago (well over 8) Lionel did one. I do not remember if it was from on their web site or if it was e-mailed to me. I know that I responded to it and that it was between 6 to 10 questions. I know I asked for earlier period steam engines, subway cars and operating cars in the survey.
How 'bout some new CC pieces...more F3's More GEEPs, Y'know....all the good stuff, and then for the BIG chooch folks; a newly tooled N&W Y6/Y6a based loosely on the Y6b of ten years ago. Then top it all off with an S1/S1a 0-8-0 switcher with all the proper N&W detail, and tender. Whooo...Hoot, Hoot ! I may be the world's biggest Dieselover....but nobody ever boiled water like N&W...NOBODY !

Wow, thanks for the heads up...Mine (I think) is still in one piece probably cause I rarely run it...There's so much add on detail I probably wouldn't notice if something did break off. This bad boy sits on a shelf 99.9% of the time mostly because my layout is much too small to appreciate it on the rails.
Bottom line, If yours has soft metal they all have soft metal..
Looks like special handling is in order.

A 5 axle C-Liner.

That's exactly why I couldn't even request a partial refund from the seller. I kept discovering the damage little by little until I had to look the entire locomotive up and down one day long after the sale. Handling with the utmost care is mandatory on this one.
More VisionLine sound cars, please.
I would love to see a CC 675, this would be a winner.

FINALLY someone with the same idea!
I'd like to see them produce the Penn Central GP-38 that K-Line cataloged in 2005. Also, a Penn Central 40' PS-1 boxcar.

We ran ours all the time. Beautiful. The nearly full two page photo from our old layout published in CTT last year showed it front and center, plus an unshrouded J in honor of our pal Scott.
I would like to see a newly designed conventional 200 watt transformer, with two handles.
And more milk cars, please.
How about a fastrack version of the AF cow on track accessory?
I would like to see a set of New Haven
Washboards/Mutts and some lightweight
stainless steel passenger cars.
Still waiting for the Cab Forward. Would be great to see it in this catalog.

You would be more likely to get a Penn Central GP30 or GP35 from Lionel, since the K-Line GP38-2 is under the control of Bachmann.
Lionel can make a Penn Central set
Penn Central GP30
Penn Central GP35
Penn Central PS-1 40' Boxcar
PC PS-2 2-Bay Covered Hopper in the Green Sand Service scheme
PC PS-2-CD 3-Bay Covered Hopper in a Gray or Green body with one of the PC variations of Graphics
Penn Central AAR 50' Double-Door Boxcar
PC Pullman-Standard Single-Door 60' Auto Parts Boxcar
PC Bay-Window Caboose

Maybe even throw in a PC PS-5 gondola. I would be very happy with this set. My wife, on the other hand, might not be so thrilled.
Tom
How about the white steam engine of the Pennsylvania railroad.
This is a Penn Central scheme for an ACF 70-ton welded Drop-end Gondola that could be put on the similar PS-5 gondola.
Andrew
1970's Norfolk and Western Three-Bay, open-top Hopper
NW basic paint scheme to match the Norfolk and Western SD40-2 diesel.
Andrew
How about a fastrack version of the AF cow on track accessory?
I second this one with a Mooing sound!
Canadian National Mechanical Refrigerator Car with two sided scheme like the Spectrum Pigments Cylindrical covered hopper.

This thread quickly evolved from predictions to wish list! I will add a wish for the 2014 catalog (lead time required). The new F125 and trainset: http://www.progressrail.com/docs/passenger-2.pdf
My posts are actual predictions based on previous release patterns.
How about fewer pages.

Count me in for these also.

This is quite interesting. If you can, insights on the "periodicity" or why and how you reach you conclusions would be appreciated (I re-read your posts, not quibbling with you, truly think you may be correct - just really interested in your understanding of how and why Lionel reaches the decisions it does)
My vote is for full interiors to retrofit into their present baby madison passenger cars. Anyone else like to see these?
Anybody looking for Penn Central equipment can just buy any engine they want in any scheme and roll it around in a mud puddle for awhile That will get the real feel of Penn Central
How about fewer pages.

Best comment on the entire thread! Just keep it real, Lionel.
We can do without the "thud factor" for the next few catalogs given all the inventory that's still being blown out these days. The market is way, way over saturated.
David
I predict that Lionel will continue to produce high end, high priced, twin motored diesel PWC/CC releases with plastic gears, and frames that don't sit level on the trucks!
Ken
PS: I sure hope I'm wrong..but will have to wait and see.
