Prefer Lionel's Previous Smoke Fluid 6-62909

I think a number of the bottles leaked, so they went with the factory seal.

More than likely Lionel's corporate attorneys, ever mindful of potential litigation, told them to SEAL the bottles! 

Oh yes, the factory seal.

Having no sense of smell, I prefer the new premium smoke fluid Lionel is offering. It's the best smoking fluid I've ever used.

My experience is that the premium smoke works as good if not better than JT.  My Legacy 844 out smokes anything I have using it.

 

The biggest problem is it goes fast and one must keep the engine well supplied.  I am finding that on some engines the wicking seems to char quicker to the resistor.  Not sure if this is the fluid or just not having enough in it.

 

Ive removed the dropper and just use the Lionel pipette to suck it out of the bottle.

As I read the other thread about this topic and saw that people were having better results with the Premium fluid I ordered two bottles myself.  As a matter of fact they will arrive today.

 

I will be curious to see how it performs in my Legacy steam engines.    

How often does one need to change the wick?I run my legacy mikado on high. Keep plenty of fluid in there. Top of the resistor looks new but cant see the bottom though looking down the stack. I run this engine 30 min. At a time on ocasion. I have good output right now so I don't want to open up until I have to!

The new Lionel premium fluid does tend to run out and needs refilling faster than other brands. To avoid wick charring, I usually refill when the smoke output noticeably starts to decrease. I also do a generous refilling at the end of each run session to let the wick soak up a good amount of fluid overnight.

Still would like recomendation as to wick replacement. And if the wick is kept soaked at all or at least most of the time can it still get chared? Anyone with exsperiance please feel free to respond!
