the mounting pad holes for the couplers..are these 2- 56 or one size smaller?

I don't know if they are standard, or specific screw for certain engines. Does it have a parts list on MTH web site? Sometimes the list gives the screw specifics. G
I recently emailed Kadee about doing some coupler conversions on MTH Premier rolling stock. I think they recommended 2-56 screws, if that helps you.
I have ordered some of the parts they recommended from my LHS to do some test conversions, but have not tried any yet. Still waiting on some of the parts.

I think there metric, down one size from2-56. Does 8mm sound right? I have been fortunate I always received the screws with the locomotives.

the 2 -56 fit kind of tight thru the kadee couplers and i have to run a 2 56 tap in the diesel mounting holes..a used premier gp38 scale i bought had couplers installed and the screws appear slightly smaller in dia.
Uh-oh, I got 2-56's for mine too.
Went back and looked at the emails they sent about all that and no where did they say 2-56 screws? Think I did get a Kadee bit and tap for 2-56. Wonder why I got that? Don't know if I found it on their website, in the directions or dreamed it. Getting old, mind is going... will look around a bit more tomorrow.
Ok, I was thinking scale coupler on steam cowcatcher. Your talking about adding kadees.
MTH uses 2 and 2.5mm on the PCB mounts. My local hardware store has screws that size, you could go to a Taylor or something similar and test fit. Or if the engine has a switch pull one screw and see if that fits. It is a 2mm screw. G

Will see if I can find some screws in those 2 & 2.5mm sizes. Good to know this before starting to convert anything. Thanks GGG.
Kadee has a chart on their website for their couplers, the O-gauge part says 2-56 screws are the most commonly used. So much for that, but at least I know where I got the 2-56 screw sizes anyway. Kadee doesn't seem to offer any metric screws on their website. They do have a lot of other good info on their couplers though.
