i do not have any passenger cars.   i have a z-1000 brick for power.   when i do a refresh the engine will run for hours with no lights, horn, or sound  it does this if it is the only engine on the track  i am thinking it has something to do with the proto 3 sound.  any ideas would be very much appreciated  thank you

Do you have the ability to run it with a Z-1000 with controller conventionally?  Make sure smoke and volume controls are on.  See if it runs right.  If not try a conventional reset to see if sounds and lights come back on.  Otherwise you may need to have board tested. I can do it.  Hard to say if this is just a software glitch and a factory reset restores it, or if you have a hardware failure on the board that has damaged lights and sounds.  Which seems odd to have both at once but yet the motor function works.  G

i do not have the ability to run in conventional.  if i do a regular start up everything works as it should then it trips the explorer after a refresh the engine then will run with out tripping but with no sound, lights, horn, or  smoke, then if i shut it down and do a start up ever things works but then it trips again. a bit of back ground i bought this engine from the MTH auction. so I do not know much about it

So start it up and turn smoke off.  Run without smoke and see if it works fine.  If it does, smoke fan motor or elements may need to be replaced. Is this PS-3 engine for sure?  The other thing is PS-3 sense board temp and if it gets too hot it shuts down.  So dragging motors, or not properly heat sunk.  May want to have a tech check it out.   G

thank you so much for the response. I was told it is a PS-3 from the auction house. as far as the smoke unit it does not matter i still shuts down.  I did replace the traction tires and gave it a good looking over but that is it do not know much about theses things. I do have a tech that i got off of the MTH website so maybe that is the proper way do do this. I see this forum is going to be a BIG help in the future. I once again would like to thank yo for your responses
