Hello all,
I have a set of prewar 610/612 passenger cars that I'm working on. Two of them have had their roof screws replaced with random fasteners and I'd like to get the correct screws back in there.
Olsen's lists the part as a 629-17, which I ordered. Those turned out to be too small in diameter for my cars. My first thought was someone stripped out the holes and put larger screws in, hence the random junk drawer screws, but the one original screw I have is the same larger diameter.
I guess my cars were built with, or modified for larger screws.
Since the passenger car roof screws are sold by a part number rather than length and diameter I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to order the ones I need.

I've attached a picture of the part I need and the 629-17 for reference. The 629-17 is on the right.
Does anyone know the part number for a passenger car roof mounting screw that's a size larger in diameter than the 629-17?

Cheers,
Matt

For what it is worth, I had six 600-series cars that I restored into a three-car train (with three cars as spare parts) and many of the parts were different amongst the cars. Roof retaining screws, truck journal covers, underneath air tanks, etc. So the screws you were sent might have been correct for some of the cars. It took me six cars to get three to match.
