Prewar Lionel 248 armature

I burned up the armature in our circa 1928 248 box cab rectifer engine today.  Not sure what went wrong.  May have been too much current.  Does anyone have any idea where I could locate another armature?  Been looking on line but do not have a diagram for the 248 so do not know what part number is needed.

Depending upon the motor, there are different part number makeups for your super motor:

Armature SLS-30 with SLS-7 Pinion used as a pair through 1930

SLS-254-27 as an armature & pinion assembly for 1931 onwards

These are not likely to be well stocked parts and so you may be better off rewinding your armature or harvesting one with crossed fingers from a parts carcass.
