I don't know if this is the correct forum for this but I'll try.  I'm trying to identify a prewar model train tin/steel building (see photos) it is all steelIMG_5274IMG_5273IMG_5271IMG_5272IMG_5275 and weighs over 6 lbs, the train opening is 3-1/2" x 5" and the roof signal is controlled by a lever next to the front door.  The rear garage door is also functional. The roof has embossed shingles and the chimney has embossed brick lines.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have been told that it is not Lionel or Ives.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Nick

If it was a DIY someone had some fancy tools, even the siding is embossed and there is a flange integrated into the roof that the signal sits on.  I am pretty sure that the roof and siding were machine made.  The posts are straight, what you see as far a distortion is paint runs as all but the roof has been repainted at some point.  Also it's made from a much heavier gauge steel than any of the Marx buildings that I have.  I think this was American made, possibly by a small manufacturer.  Hopefully I'll find at least a partial match somewhere.  The roof is very similar to a couple Ives buildings but someone from the Ives society said it's not theirs.  I'm a TCA member is there any help there for this type of a search?
