I had a lot of painted white retaining walls on my layout that I told my self I would figure out something later. Well later never happened. I thought I could use the 1/4 foam trick. And carve the details and glue them to the wall. But this would create some clearance issues.
Think, Think, Think.... I was going through the hobby shop and I saw printed patterns for doll house walls, hmm... then a friend of mine showed me molded plastic wall patterns I could buy... too expensive I thought. Then on a ModelRailroad forum for HO I saw a link for photo pics of walls, streets, etc.
So I printed out a pattern, scaled it down, created a tile affect it looked pretty good. I printed it out on a High print setting.
The proof was putting in on the layout. Here are before and after shots. I used a elmers paste with a tad of water and cut the pattern to fit. then I slapped the paste on the back and put them up like wall paper.
The cost - practically free.
Its not a new idea but it sure saved me lots of time! What other printable ideas from the web are unique?
