Hello, I have two 21" StationSounds cars, a diner and Vista Dome car. Both worked fine when new but are not working properly less than a year later.

When I power up the track, the cars make a sound and the lights turn on. but when I move the cars, no sound comes out and the lights slowly dim until off.

I've cleaned the rollers and wheels with denatured alcohol and used DeoxIT on the contacts, but that didn't help.

I'm using MTH track, and a DCS Explorer with the 75w power supply. (still waiting for my WTIU)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Cyril

If they are less than a year old, these must both be Legacy StationSounds cars. I have three of those, one of which was DOA because of an assembly issue (pinched wire) that was rectified by replacing the RCMC. The older ones (TMCC) suffer from oxidation on the potentiometer or sound board contacts. In your case, however, the transformer used and control device (DCS Explorer/App) might not play nicely with the Legacy boards, but they should work with ordinary conventional transformer control, within the limits GRJ's attachment describes. Have you tried just controlling them from the transformer?

One thing I can say is in the command environment my station sounds car and my Vision reefers can sometimes shut off and not make a sound and in the case of the diner turn the lights off. Typically a command sent straight to that car awakens it. I tried putting a YLB in a reefer to see if that would correct the problem. Issue is I forgot witch reefer that was 😅. I may try it in the diner so I can pay more attention to it. But if it’s not the RS LITE board freaking out it has to be something with the RCDR and if that’s the case I don’t know what you could do.
