Today, I did warranty registration for my 2 latest Lionel purchases. The online system is easy to use. However, I like the MTH system better. With MTH, you upload a scanned copy of your receipt, so you will never have to go find that receipt that you lost. The other subject; I wish Lionel had some kind of product locator like MTH. I'd be happy if Lionel just had a product search, by road name, locomotive etc. so I know what they have produced in the past, that I may want to look for. Not all of us have been watching Lionel for the last 60 years. My first Lionel purchase was 1 year ago.

I also like the MTH website much better. IMO, Lionel should hire MTH's web developer (unless MTH's web person is in house that is), they butchered their website with pretty screens a while back and I don't think it's ever quite recovered. Personally, I think it was better before the upgrades.
I don't think I have ever registered anything at either site though. The MTH site saving the sales ticket sounds does like a great idea, which I wasn't aware of until reading your post.
Lionel does have a "product locator" - though it has been weakened in the last few years per the "improved" website. Go to "Archived". MTH's is indeed better, however.
Flip side: unlike MTH's, Lionel's parts system is excellent: look it up online, look at it if there is a photo, order it online and a week later it's here. I use it for scratch bashing project parts supplies.
MTH - I'd give them business also, but how? You can shop Lionel's parts system.

Thanks; I get lost trying to navigate the Lionel web site and have never come across the product locator. I'll look for it.

I think you are supposed to be able to order MTH parts on line, but I have not gotten that mastered. I just call or email Midge. Maybe someone else will explain?
As for Lionel, I didn't know they had a product locator either, good to know and I will have to check look around for that too.
The problem with ordering parts from MTH is you HAVE TO KNOW THE PART NUMBER! With Lionel, you can look up a model and get an exploded parts diagram. There has been talk at MTH for years about fixing the parts site, but so far it's just talk.
So that's the trick. I was under the impression they had implemented some sort of limited part look up stuff, but I guess not. So we continue to wait.

Talk, talk, talk... Are the Feds involved? lol
