Does anyone know if it is possible to program PS 1 engines with the MTH DCS App?  I'm hoping to be able to somehow enter the function number on the app instead of all the clinks and clanks.   My local dealer wasn't sure, and I even called MTH Customer Service and they didn't know either.

Thanks!

Dale

Thanks for the reply, H1000.  I'm in the process of getting a DCS system for a new layout I am building and want to know what I really should get.  Most folks I've talked to say the app is much better than the remote (and I do like the look of the app from the demo's I've seen).  I suppose I can always do the PS1 programming on a test track...

Right now, I have 3 PS1 engines, 1 PS2 engine, and a few postwar Lionel engines.  One of the main reasons I want DCS is the ability to walk around the layout and still control the trains, and to easily activate all the Protosound features (compared to separate bell switches for my ZW, etc.).

I do know I'll need to get some fast-blow fuses or breakers if/when I get the TIU and use my older Lionel transformers as the power source.

The DCS remote & TIU truly are the best when it comes to programming PS1 engines.  Each programing feature is clearly spelled out on the screen. You just go to the PS1 programing menu for the the selected track, scroll to the feature you want to program and select it by pressing the thumb wheel.

The next best option is to use a Z4000 transformer and a Z4000 remote & receiver made specifically for the Z4000. While the Z4000 transformer is still in production, the remote/receiver are not and can only be found on the secondary market.  You can also buy the Z4000 receiver without the remote and use a DCS remote to communicate to the Z4000 receiver.
