i want to program the B-U Channel on my ZWL so I can control the voltage through the CAB2.  The instructions seem pretty straight forward, page 19 and 20 of  the manual, there are only a few steps.  After I put in the ID #, 95 in my case and then hit the set button, the Lionel name is to flash, but I don’t get the flash.  I have tried different numbers as well.

what am I missing.  The ZWL is set to program.  CAB 2 works to control my TMCC engine.

thanks

I did not have the switch moved to cmd.  I just tried it now and I was able to program it as an eng, but not a trk.  Not sure why, but having it as an eng will work for me.  I don’t have the wire connected for the 990 to the ZW, I have it going from the 990 to the ground wire, which goes to the out side rail.

Thanks

What software version are you running on your Cab and Base?  You need at least 1.4 for the ZWL to function properly.  You should be able to make it a TR or ENG.  I found TR worked better for me.  Your results may vary.

Your common from the base to the track will work fine.  The commons on the ZWL is electrically the same as the command post on the ZWL.

I am not home now, but it is either 1.6 or 1.61, I will have to check.  I see the version every time it tuns on, but I don't know for sure.  I got it in January of 2017 and it was up to date at that time.

I am just powering a turn table and all the spurs.  With just using a transformer alone, my non command engines, can motors from the 90s,  don't run slow enough.  The old jack rabbit start.

When I could not get the ZWL to work the other night, I changed the DCS channel to variable and lowered the power going into that TIU channel to about 13 or so, and that worked well.  Now those non command engines "crawl" much better, but I want to try it with the CAB2 and see which I like better.  I like the red wheel better than the thumb wheel.  Also, I had to change the power going into that DCS channel from the ZWL to a PW ZW, do the sine wave issue.  Using the ZWL and the variable channel, the horn would just blow on the non command engines, but with the PW ZW, no horn issue.

When I get home, I will try the ZWL with the non command engines and see how it works at slow speed.
