As you can see, there is progress being made on what i have to do before i can continue with rebuilding my layout,on the other side of the area being updated is where the trains are,all the mess you see is the layout table thats where i had to put everything until the new cabinets are delivered which should be next week, once the cabinets are installed i can put everything back in the new cabinets & get back to rebuilding the layout. The wiring has been completely updated, before there was just one circuit for the refrigerator, lights, trains,& any outlets that were in this area, now i have 7 seperate circuits, with the trains on there own circuit,i will post again when i am ready to start on the layout itself, which should be soon.

FloridaCoastJo, We have always had a kitchen there, with the wiring being outdated,& the old sink rusted out it was time to update everything it is much safer now that the wiring is done correctly.

Alex, the cabinets were delivered yesterday, they will be installed shortly, then we will order the counter top,put everything back where it belongs & then ON TO THE TRAINS!!!!

Moonman ,if i do anything with the lighting i was thinking about putting LED rope lights around the layout, also want to do some kind of backdrop, maybe using 1/4'' luan plywood & painting it sky blue with some clouds painted in,or possibly buying a backdrop but could be expensive for the area i want to do,i have a lot to think about, then again that is the fun part of this hobby, planning  then bringing those plans to reality.

what will be the final dimensions of available space.  I have 11'6"X15'6" clean floor space and still deciding on "around the room" or center table with 'island access in middle"

good luck,  we might be building at same time, i just ordered some track to lay on floor and have some thing physical to touch and move around and think about.  at same time milling and putting aside construction materials

cool and regards

Pelago, the dimensions are 15' long x 6 1/2' wide, the long sides will be 30'' wide & the short ends are 31'' wide with a 20'' aisle in the middle,i have to build either a lift out section,or a swing up hatch to get in there ,there will also be a second level about 19''wide. This photo shows what it looked like at one point before being taken down.
