This is a Mission Impossible scene filmed recently in Derbyshire, its quite a stunt.
The video was on YouTube. I embedded it for you. There was no need to link to Twitter.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing.

Sad if they actually did this.
Amazing!! The Brits construct two new steam locomotives from the ground up, yet they totally destroy a perfectly good old one.

Not even good steam effects!
Buster Keaton's iconic bridge collapse scene in "The General" was reputedly the most expensive shot in silent movie history...
Gomez Addams could do a better job!
I've seen flying steam locomotives 30 years ago! You haven't seen 'Back to the future' part 3?
Reminded me of “Bridge On The River Kwai”
Is that Eastwood Ravine?

At the end of this one the engine appears to be under full "steam" but is being pushed by a diesel.

Fantastic footage. Almost looks too good to be true for 1902, until I read the description.
However, it has not slipped its earthly bounds...

Odd how we can get better steam effects on our O gauge models than they did on a full size mock up.
I wonder why the Mission Impossible movie has a steam train in the plot? Now, if it was for the upcoming Indiana Jones movie (which does feature a steam train in the plot) I would understand it...

I'd wait until this raw footage goes to post where the VFX team goes to work. Same with the audio (foley, etc).

I would think monorail, HSR, maglev.....
Are you all sure it's a mockup? Looks an old, non-powered, but actual steam locomotive that is accelerating under gravity with a smoke unit and fan in the smokebox. : - )

That ain't no petticoat pipe in the smokebox.
The prop departments are getting pretty good at building mock-up locomotives.
And notice the "bridge" is set up like a launch ramp. No bridge goes upgrade like that past the embankment.

Well at least no class 59s and 66s were damaged/destroyed in the making of this film.
