What locomotive is it? And what do you mean by the sound sequence to be reversed? I can't think of any locomotive that makes a different sound going forward from backward. If you try flipping the board like you said, you'll just end up with two blown boards. As the e-unit cycle is hard coded in the firmware, you can't change it. The only thing you can do is flip the motor plug on the bottom board (Yellow and white connectors. Only one will be used if it only has one motor. No need to do any soldering at the motor end.). I did this on a GP38-2 so I could MU two locomotives on a freight train.
Reverse the two leads to the motor and lighting too if need be, just as you noted.
I dont get the sound reversal bit either. Doing something with the sound is unlikely. Impossible without you being more specific about whats "wrong" and/or wanted too.
