proto 3 engine stuck in neutral | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

My NYC J1E Hudson is a problem. tends to stick in neutral. If I jiggle the drawbar with its pin connection up and down on the tender's post connector the engine will run but not with correct control So any ideas to correct this problem ?

Look on the locomotive side. There is a harness that plugs into the drawbar. Look to see if it’s seated securely. Also look at the tender side and see if that connector has become dislodged from its bracket in the bulkhead. Lastly, could be a bad drawbar. You can try to reflow the solder on the pins ( X12, 6 on each side ) if the drawbar itself is suspect.

Check the wiring that go into the drawbar connector. Can have a poor crimp or broken wire under insulation. Check continuity from tender to engine. G
