Just got these photos of Norm Bucart's Protocraft Company's devastating fire. Not a total but bad enough. Good luck to Norm.

Wow! That is devastating! Look at that layout in the second picture! I hope he rebuilds!
I wonder if any one started this fire or is it mother nature at it again?
Protocraft Fire,
That's Horrible!! Important thing is that noone was hurt or killed. Can Protocraft still function without rebuilding? I was going to order thank you for this knowledge.

More Human nature than Mother.
Water became wine, vines got water, trees got dead and weak.
High Winds + Power lines + Over grown bush and trees
+ Drought killed trees + no proper clearings around houses and overhead power lines = High fire danger
I got smoke from fire 30 miles away, and I don't even let my trains smoke.
PROTOCRAFT IS STILL IN BUSINESS AND UNDAMAGED.
The fire did damage the owner's home and the 85' long building that housed a huge Proto48 layout and Protocraft. The pictures posted show a storage room at the far end and about 20' of the main building. The far end is where Protocraft resides. All decals are stored in air-tight containers. New brass models are stored at this end. New models are arriving from Korea in a few weeks
You can order via their website just like before the fire. The servers that host the website is remote to Protocraft. All of the technical data and artwork was removed from the room early Saturday morning before the fire moved in.
Norm Buckhart and his wife left their home late Friday at the urging of the Sonoma County Sheriff. Norm returned to secure important items on Saturday. Saturday night the fire came down on Norm's property and a crew from the Sonoma FD battled the blaze and saved his home and most of the Protocraft building.
I am posting a shot taken inside the Protocraft side of the building. It is undamaged.
Remember, Protocraft is up and running.

You can get more info on my blog.
Not sure the first photo is the train room. I think it is a photo of a storage unit on the other end of the house. There was no building or structure to the outside of the train room or the multi car garage.
I believe most of the damage to the train room is from water and the roof collapsing. You'll notice the layout, and the models don't show signs of burning. Pretty sure that's what Norm told me. Having said that it bad enough. When I spoke with Norm, earlier today, he's already forming a battle plan to restore everything.
Well, shoot! I should have read Gene's post before doing my own.
Gene,
I get it! You Proto 48 guys strive for accuracy. You just can't help yourselves!!
