Has anyone ever had the knuckle on the recently new, ready to run,(assembled),Protocraft couplers, refuse to close due to,as far as I can determine, the trip pin getting lodged behind the knuckle?
This happened to me yesterday when experimenting with 2 of these couplers mounted on Atlas freight cars. 1 was a 4750 cvd grain hopper, the other car was an Atlas 25,500 gallon tanker. They worked ok for a while, but on a 48" curve, the coupler on the tanker refused to lock. I thought nothing of this being on a curve, but after repeated tries, the knuckle was jammed open. I had this happen with San Quan couplers before,so kept investigating & by evening found that the trip pin somehow got behind the knuckle. I thought this should be easily fixed if the trip pin were raised so the knuckle could slide by it,but such is not the case.
I emailed Protocraft but believe Norm's at the O Scale West Show.
Thanks to all for your help in advance.
Thank you,
