does anyone know the electrical schematics of prr electrical substations?

does one set of 131,000 volt lines interact with each set of 11,000  volt catenary or do they intermix as needed? how many transformers are necessary for down stepping from 131,000 volts to 11.000volts?

does anyone have aerial views showing how they are positioned? the lines of catenary are clear to me but the substations are a gigantic fog.

can anyone help?

I have spent days out on the line trying to Photograph the Cat here in the DC area.

there are a couple books on the cat but House of Duddy was the best source for info back in the day.

Try Google earth for looking for area shots of the sub stations. In the DC area there still the same from the 1930's there is a sub station in Landover MD. Wilmington Delaware is still the same.

the 131K lines went to one transformer and stepped down to the 11K Cat. There can be multiple circuits going into each substation to feed multiple tracks both North and south. The 11K circuits would have separate disconnects feeding out. I didn't look up any capacitor banks if they existed.

Landover was good for me in that it fed north and south and had all the Air breaks to look at. the Benning road Plant was right down the road. Full access around the fenced in yards.

I have ed's last insulators before he retired, really cool and look realistic.

I have looked via google etc in NJ area and they appeared to be rather empty spaces. I will have to relook at the satellite pix.

thanks, mikeg

i presume all have been updated when electrification was changed from 11000v ac to 25000v ac years ago.
