I run MTH RK heavyweight passenger cars behind my K4s. They look good to me on my small layout. But a distinctive feature of Pennsy coaches is the 4 wheel trucks. I'd like to try to swap some classic Pennsy 4 wheel trucks for the six wheel trucks on MTH heavyweights. Have any fellow forumites tried such a conversion? Any recommendations for a source for the trucks?

Have you checked the MTH parts web site to see if they have 4-wheel passenger trucks? I have replaced the 6-wheel trucks on two of my Lionel Pennsy coaches with 4-wheel trucks off Lionel's site. MTH could have something similar for their RK cars.
For the 18" scale length cars Lionel's trucks used for the B60b baggage would work well. The truck you are looking for is known as the 2D-P5 in PRR language. GGD sells them at full scale but they are a little pricey per pair. Overkill but Precision Scale makes brass ones too. MTH has the same truck from the R50 reefers. That would be the easiest swap but It depends on the centering of the truck.
The car on the right is a Weaver B60 baggage and the car on the left is a GGD P70 coach. Lionel purchased the Weaver tooling for their versions. Good luck!

Um, 4 wheeled commonwealth trucks that are usually found under heavyweight cars are not the same as PRR 4 wheeled trucks. Perhapse the R50b trucks could be fitted to the coach.
On another thread sometime ago, if I recall correctly, I asked a question about relocating a passenger truck so that it would be closer to the end of the car. I caught this thread tonight and have a question about how you would approach drilling the new mounting hole for the 4 wheel truck. Without a drill press, I wonder if this is would be a good approach: (1) Place a piece of masking tape on the frame where the new hole will be drilled. (2) Mark the exact center for the new hole. (3) With hammer and thin nail, dent fairly deep for the first small bit and increase bit gradually to the size hole needed. I think the Lionel 4 wheel passenger trucks on the 18 inch cars appear to be mounted in the same holes used for the 6 wheel trucks, and they would look better if relocated closer to the ends of the car. Track radius should not be affected because the aft end of the 4 wheel truck would be roughly located the same distance as the aft end of the six wheel trucks. Just a little OCD
