Interchanged cars would be a big category here, as well as through cars off roads that did not normally run Tuscan red equipment, ie. New Haven, C&O and Southern.
Prior to the Pullman break-up, there must have been lots of sleeping car service on the PRR. Was not this run in the standard green Pullman car? Not sure what the PRR would have thought when Pullman started repainting to the two tone gray.
Pennsy assigned Pullman cars were normally painted tuscan red in one scheme or another. The higher you go up the ladder in the "Blue Ribband Fleet", the less likely you are to find non-tuscan cars in the consist.
