IMG_2125Hey Pennsy fans..this is a photo of my wife's grandfather taken in Brownsville PA dated 1910. He is the one farthest to the right. It's hard to tell the engine no.   893 is my guess..a search yielded no results for me. It seams the Monongahela RR was based in Brownsville and PRR had joint ownership of it.  It has the look of PRR steam?  It would be cool to have a model of this type engine. Thanks

Nice looking picture thanks for sharing. I'd like to know how often the crew member on the right wore light colored clothes in his duties? I wouldn't like to see his laundry bills.

I picked up a similar vintage PRR photo (0-6-0, built by Pittsburgh in 1906, B29 #7836) not too long ago. Sadly, none of them are my relatives although my dad was a fireman on the New Haven.

Yes...I was thinking the same thing.  This may not have been a regular shift as it appears the guy next to him is wearing a suit.  Cool that your dad fired for the New Haven...did he work during the steam years?  That switcher photo fits in well with your collection.

Dad came back from WWII and his friend who was a long time conductor got him the job as a fireman. Dad used to complain that he had all these paychecks sticking out of his shirt pocket that he never had time to spend!

So, he quit the New Haven before I was born. I also have some New Haven pieces...a large NY,NH & H script sign off of a passenger car (opposite side has the block "NH"...they were often financially sketchy, so they reused the sign) and paper items like rule books, etc.

Thanks for asking/Happy Holidays.

Super neat pic, Fendermain. I would be very proud to claim that heritage!
